Daily Reflections!!!!

Today I got my Literary Response number three written and got the basis of my project finished.

Literary Response #3

NUMBER THREE:

The Room reminds me a lot of the story of Jaycee Duggard who was kidnapped from the bus stop in her hometown of North Lake Tahoe, California at the age of 11. She was taken by an old man and his wife and kept in a shed. While in the shed she gave birth to two children who were fathered by her kidnapper just like Ma gave birth to Jack who was fathered by old Nick. Jaycee was rescued 18 years later with her 11 and 15 year old girls. Their case is worse because it was a longer period of time but most of their life is really relatable to the life of Ma and Jack in the "Room".

Daily Goals!!

I want to get my third Literary Analysis written and try to figure out what I am going to do for PBL...i am so stressed.

Daily Reflection!!!

Today I would say that I exceed expectations according to the PBL Work Habits document. I posted my "daily goals" blog and I am on pace or so I feel that I am. I wrote my Literary Analysis Response #2 today, but I also researched more on my project but I am still really lost and don't know how I want to present.

Literary Response #2

NUMBER TWO!!!

The "Room" describes the life of Jack and his mother, Ma, inside eleven by eleven foot room for 5 years for Jack but 7, for Ma. Living in this room for this long is due to a horrible man, known as Old Nick, kidnapping, Ma, at the age of 19. Following the kidnapping, old Nick raped Ma causing her to get pregnant at the age of 20 but the baby died. Two years later, Ma, got pregnant again with Jack at the age of 21.

Ma and Jack's life together in "room" life would remind anyone of a normal life for a 5 year old and his mother, their day consists, of getting a bath, watching TV, eating breakfast, reading his four books and bringing his imagination to life. Some events though, lead the reader to believe that there is something that is not normal. Jack sleeps in the wardrobe, because of his mother wanting to protect him at night from old Nick seeing him. He also has no idea that their is a world outside of "room" seeing as he only has one window that looks up at the sky. Getting their daily supplies is also different from an ordinary family. Every Sunday, "Sunday Treat" comes which is when old Nick brings in whatever that they need. Old Nick is never really talked about or described, he just is brought up when he comes at night to "make the bed creak" which is how it is described by Jack. He does make Ma really nervous and angry when he tries to check in on Jack but she can never get so mad that she lashes out. When she does he always retaliates, one time by cutting off the electricity and did not come in at all for 3 or 4 days, causing them to not bathe, cook, get rid of the trash or use the bathroom. These events just add to Ma's wanting to escape that has been developing for the last 7 years. Her and Jack started planning immediately on their escape. The plan was to fake that Jack was sick and needed to go to the doctor leading to Old Nick taking him out the room and into the car, while Jack was at the hospital he would stat screaming and trying to get away. After all the planning and stress the plan fell apart when old Nick was not convinced enough to take him to the hospital. They would not start there so, Jack and Ma started planning the next escape. The plan this time was to make old Nick think that since he didn't take him to the hospital that he had died and that old nick must take him out and bury him in a rug, and while Jack was wrapped up in the rug in the back of old Nick's truck, he would unroll himself and jump out. This plan worked out so well that Jack ended up getting out of the truck, telling people about his predicament and getting old Nick arrested and his Ma rescued.

Daily Goals!

Today I want to write my Literary Analysis number two and I also want to talk to Mrs. Amy to better arrange my project, then research more on it.

Daily Reflections

I got my Literary Analysis number one writing done!!!

Literary Response #1

Number One:

For my Literary Book this time around I chose to read the "Room" by Emma Donoghue.  Emma allows her readers to view her creative mind as she discusses the life of a 5 year old boy who has lived his entire life in a 11 foot room with his mother. Left to wonder how  the outside world worked through his imagination and their miniscule television. His life was because of a very cruel man that kidnapped his mother and raped her causing her to become pregnant at 21, two years after being abducted. The "Room" has allowed me to open my eyes and realize how lucky I am to be living in a free and loving household kept safe and out of harms way.

Daily Goals

Today I want to get my First Literary Response done!

Daily Reflections!!

Today I got a lot done. I wrote my daily gals, my OHpedia reflection, and I picked my topic and essential question. My topic is going to be Fashion and my essential question is "How does culture influence the fashion of the country?"

OHpedia Reflections

The OHpedia project was very important to me because I spent so much time and effort on it.  I am going to like being able to look back on it in the later years to see what I did.

My expectations have not changed during this project I still expect the best work from myself and I expect myself to stay focus and get the task done the best I can.

This project at time definitely tried my patience just because I am not patient at all so when things wouldn't work or it was not turning out how I wanted it to I got frustrated but I just learned to deal with it.

It satisfied me knowing that most all of the benchmarks got done by doing this one project. It left me feeling very relieved and wanting to move on to bigger and better things.

This project allowed me to work on my own pace and gave me creative freedom.

I will always remember being able to create my own lesson and working with Kylie.

Daily Goals

Today I would really like to complete my OHpedia reflections and start on my project planning form for my choice project.
